Ahhhhh, we FINALLY got around to sharing the progress on our kid’s bathroom remodel!! I mean, it’s not really a full before and after quite yet, because currently this is a functioning bathroom without a sink or vanity. So yeah, washing hands happens in the tub or the kitchen sink… but our DIY vanity will be happening soon. I think. I hope.
In the meantime, we decided to celebrate the progress (not the perfection or finished product) in this bathroom update, and share how we added DIY faux shiplap walls on the cheap. Faux, because we didn’t actually use shiplap or planks of wood, instead we used a sheet of luan (I’d recommend 1/4″) and ripped it down the the size we needed. It definitely works in a pinch and in this space!

So far in this bathroom, we removed the popcorn ceiling and added in new lighting and a ventilation fan. From there we worked our way down the walls, tearing out EVERYTHING, even the walls behind the bathtub (we also extended that area a bit making a larger bath space). We added in new tile, both for the tub and the floor, a new toilet and a new jacuzzi tub as well! Whew. Take a look and I’d love to hear what you think!!! Next comes the decor, and I’m doing a happy dance.

Hey Annie, I think you have an amazing bathroom! I’m not sure if it is your photography skills or that is how your home looks, but it is so bright and beautiful!

I absolutely love how much cleaner the room looks (no offence) Annie. When you compare the two pictures side by side at the bottom (although I’m sure there is a little bit of creative photography) it really does look wonderful!

Definitely soooo much cleaner and fresher!

Hi Annie,
BEAUTIFUL!! What an inspiration! Question, what is that tile cutter your hubby used and where can I purchase? Thank you!
Tabitha Laboy says
Hi Molly!! His is a really old one, but it’s a tabletop wet saw like this one: http://bit.ly/2I5s7tP

Thanks for sharing this. As a professional, I really like all the things about the bathroom.
