Eats // Maple Glazed Brussels Sprouts with Bacon, Cranberries and Laboy Cheese

Oh, and it has walnuts too, though they are completely optional if you’re a nutty person or not. Please say yes! I guess I tend to be a little nutty at times. Tell me I’m not the only one.

For our Christmas Eve dinner I wanted to try something different and knew that brussels sprouts hit the top of my list. Growing up I despised these little green veggies, but was recently out of town and decided to give them another try… this time the restaurant served theirs up with bacon and cranberries.

After browsing Pinterest to round up a few recipes ideas, I had the gist of what I wanted, but put together my final list of ingredients after perusing my own pantry… the maple syrup almost jumped off of the shelf at me.

I think this is one of my new favorite dishes!

I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, so I didn’t take any step by step photos, but it’s so simple, you don’t need them anyway. And after receiving lots of requests for the recipe, I figured I’d hop on here and share it with you all.

Maple Glazed Brussels Sprouts

//Ingredients:

1 bag brussels sprouts
1/2 pound bacon
1/2 cup cranberries
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 clove minced garlic
3 tablespoons maple syrup
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon dijon
Dash of salt and pepper

//Process:

Chop brussels sprouts in quarters and wash. Mix maple syrup, oil, dijon and salt and pepper in a bowl with the brussels sprouts to coat. Chop up the bacon and cook in a medium to large skillet. Set aside once cooked, but leave grease in the pan. Cook the sprouts for 10 minutes in your skillet. Add in garlic, bacon, cranberries and chopped walnuts and cook for 5 more minutes, stirring occasionally. Once you remove pan from heat, top with Laboy cheese.

Serve and enjoy!

PS. I was so proud of how perfect this turkey turned out, along with all of the other dishes timed just right, we had to take this Betty Crocker-esque picture! Even though there are no trimmings on that turkey platter, haha.
